Some questions asked by customers interested in the Tech Buddy Contract.
You may choose a couple of methods:
Let us take care of the cleaning and updating of the computer on a schedule. You may be the type of person or organization that ignores updates or postpones them, exposing your computer to potential security exploits. We also physically clean the interior of desktops and the fans on laptops which is rarely, if ever, done by most users. We have a 10-point (more with the Plus+ service) checklist of items that should be done regularly, but are typically overlooked. Also, you can save $10/hr off our Pay-As-You-Go rate for additional services and get priority appointments scheduled ahead of non-Tech Buddy contract customers.
This DOES NOT guarantee against any virus or attack. We will check that your virus protection is up-to-date and that your network is as secure as possible, but virus and spyware infections can still happen. Infections and exposure to security exploits can happen in a quick moment, even before your virus/spyware software has time to react or before it is aware of the type of infection. Another reason for infection is the habit or diligence of the customer. Some people will click on multiple exposure vectors believing they are legitimate or non-threatening. Once the virus or spyware has been allowed into the computer, or the computer is not fully updated to protect against it, there is no way to determine what will be affected or happen. The Tech Buddy Contract does not guarantee against infection. Clean up or removal of any infection can be performed, but billable time will apply and it is outside of the contract payment.
The Home contract covers 2 computers at the same location per contract. Business contracts cover up to 5 computers at the same location per contract. If a business has many computers then you may purchase multiple contracts or we can discuss the best solution. All coverage is for the same visit and location. All coverage is one visit in a 12 month period which is scheduled in advance. Tech Buddy contract is auto-renewing.
Any customer may prepay for a block of 5 hours or more and receive the lowest available rate. The prepay hours must be used within 3 months. Contact us for more information.
If you use a home computer for business purposes and it uses standard, non-proprietary software, such as Microsoft Office and Quicken, then the Home contract should apply. If you use business systems, proprietary software, databases, or Professional versions of software then the Business contract should apply. We will always try to apply the lowest cost contract to your situation, but may determine that the Business contract will apply upon renewal if it is determined that you meet that requirement.
Yes, the contract will automatically renew at the end of the 12 month term. An invoice will be sent to you via email or USPS mail. You may cancel at any time. Any unused portion and funds from the contract will be forfeited.
We will schedule with you and work to make it as convenient as possible. All visits will be scheduled during normal business hours (10am-5pm Monday through Friday).
You will enjoy the benefit of priority service which means that your scheduled service visit will be moved the next available spot, possibly being moved in front of a non-Tech Buddy contract holder. This is for a service call not covered by the Tech Buddy agreement. Emergency assistance is available for businesses or individuals that have a written contract and agreement in place for that service. Tech Buddy contract holders do not qualify unless another, additional agreement is in place. Ask us for information on how you can have this service available.
Only Windows based computers are covered. No printers or other connected devices. Those items may have maintenance that is necessary, but it is not covered under this contract. We would be happy to provide service at your reduced Tech Buddy rate, but our technicians come prepared to work on Windows based computers only.
The Tech Buddy Contract is only for Windows based computers that are running Home, Premium, or Ultimate versions. No Windows Servers or Macintosh computers are covered under this agreement, however we can still help at the prevailing rate for your device. All Network Attached Storage (NAS), iPods, iPads, other music/MP3 players and PDA’s, Blackberry phones, Droid phones, or other “Smartphone” devices are not covered and will be disconnected during any maintenance tasks.
